overwhelmed
sometimes,
when i move my jawbone to the left something
rushes into my ears and fills 
me with uncertainty
so
i clench it shut.


did you know
just as Manhattan was once a lush backwoods
you were full of life before you owned anything at all


folded
with the table lamp
on
she put her fingertips in the dip
under the back of her head, like a handle,
and, with her nose pressed against a muscleless arm,
she pulled her elbow to her knee


wouldn't it be nice
if the kind of light 
that squeezes through
the crack
between drawn curtains at 3am
(or so)
did not 
ex
ist 
at 
all


they're just circles
I've been told that water is the most difficult image to animate, but I've more often seen satisfactory waves and puddles than believable eyes.
